Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+: Bigger, Better & Bixby-er

Samsung unveiled the brand new Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ at today’s Unpacked Event. With it comes a brand new design and an edge-to-edge (to-edge-to-edge) display – called the Infinity Display. Gone are the forehead and chin of “traditional” smart phones! The front is pretty much just all screen… using the brilliant OLED technology Samsung is known for, it’s just a delight to look at!

This means no more home button. Instead, you have keys built into the software on the display; which happen to be pressure-sensitive. Much like the iPhone 7, the firmer you press on the screen, the phone will respond differently.

Also introduced is their brand new voice assistant – BIXBY! This voice assistant promises to be different from the rest as it learns your methods of using the phone and adapts its functionality based on what you want – even if it’s not part of its original programming. That’s pretty dang cool!

One flaw I can already see however, is the fingerprint sensor on the back. First, it’s right up by the camera. If you get the larger S8+, you’ll find that it’s a bit harder to reacher. Second, even if you do reach that far, it’s RIGHT NEXT to the camera – which if you’re not careful, you may touch the camera lens frequently, causing it to smudge. Not a huge issue, but a potentially irritating one.

Overall, I think this phone looks GOOOOD. What do you think of it? Will this be Samsung’s way of getting out from under the whole Galaxy Note 7 fiasco?
